At 43, we don’t have any investments, and my wife and I are looking to start an investment type vehicle. We are going to start with an IRA. We have no clue what we are doing.   Is it better to use a self service tool like Schwab or go through someone like an Edward Jones?   We have a family friend who works for one and had for many years.   I believe he’s “Certified,” whatever that means.

This may be a dumb question but, how  much money should we have on hand in our savings account for emergency funds?

Tips, hints, thoughts, and suggestions for getting out of Edward Jones? Money is in both a traditional IRA and a Roth. How do I move it and where without paying a lot of fees and penalties?

My son is turning 18 and I’m looking to buy him some simple life changing books about how to handle money. I have already purchased the simple path to wealth. Any other recommendations (looking for 1 or 2 more). Thanks!!
